Since the Japan Nuclear crisis many Americans are logging on to available radiation monitoring sites, there are actually quite a few. After a few days I realized there were major spikes occurring in the Denver Colorado area, although no exi...sting nuclear facilities were listed for that area. My interest was piqued and my focus for some time was monitoring the Denver spikes, screen capturing high CPM levels. I was still in the early stages a very investigating history of the Rocky Flats Nuclear weapons facility that was located there, and Denver is still another very interesting story, but this new information I came across may be far more important, especially for North Carolina.

You'll figure it out, you click a dark blue balloon and you get the latest radiation data for that monitor. Click a few balloons to get familiar,
you will see the normal range is anywhere from 5 -60> The CPM "alarm" level is anything over 100 (130 on some sites). Click the Raleigh NC Balloon. last night CPM's 204279. Yes over two hundred thousand>

Current reading at 9:30 p.m March 21 is Beta Gross Count Rate (CPM): 179649.

To give you a better idea where it should be here are a few other locations;

As you can see modest CPM levels of 14 and 31> this is the average found at most monitor locations.

NO OTHER LOCATION HAS TOPPED 100 Never Mind 200,000
SO Why is Raleigh reading 6 digits?

I have been making calls all day and been given the run around, Emails, phone numbers that require names just to access and leave a voice
mail, I called EPA, sent emails to EPA Radnet desk, left message for Lee Cox (out of office) Rick Buttons (Back in office March 21st message said) even called the NC emergency response number, what a joke that was. I tried to explain to the girl that the CPM's over Raleigh were over 200,000 You know what she said?
Well ma'am we do have 3 Nuclear plants>
I said yeah I know that's why I'm calling<
tried to tell her normal levels aren't supposed to go over 130 CPM,
tried to tell her my main concern was that one of those nuclear plants, the Shearon Harris reactor, was JUST restarted recently with parts from the 3 Mile Island Reactor>
Then she says radiation is not her area of expertise, so I asked her to find me someone who was> She asked where I was I said GA., so she was like"well then why are you calling NC emergency response?" DUH! 1st number she gave me I had already called and left message Lee Cox> second number went to voice mail system, I have about 15 different numbers, and more emails, here that I have called, including Warren from NC Warn.org (left a message there too, told him to google the epa radnet interface and check NC> Something is going on there)

I feel like I am stuck in a poorly written movie. It has been IMPOSSIBLE to get a live knowledgable person to explain why Raleigh NC currently has a CPM level of 179649

in regards to excessive CPM levels noted in North Carolina I did call the number available on the site, but was told it is only in regards to assistance with technical matters of site operation, and was given an e mail address to send my co...ncerns to. this is the communication in it's entirety that I forwarded to the EPA.
Hello I do not possess a scientific degree in this area of expertise. I am an interested average American citizen. In view of the current situation in Japan I began monitoring a number of available radiation networks, and again while not an expert have grasped the basics of the data presented therein. What initially began as a search for information regarding radiation reports from Japan (Which at this point in my opinion I would agree that levels have been negligible thus far) has progressed to also tracking some very regular puzzling spikes coming out of Denver, (Interest peaked and puzzling because no active nuclear plants are listed in this vicinity that I know of, except the infamous Rocky Flats location), and again as I said spikes, but nothing that set off "alarms" so to speak. Denver levels screen captured thus far have only peaked as high as 84 that I have seen. My concern is in regards to North Carolina, and it is this data that has me sending this inquiry.

Deb Paulsen Just gets better and better, or worse and worse I guess you could say MIDDLETOWN, Pa. — A generator in storage for more than three decades following the accident at Three Mile Island nuclear power plant is heading to North Carolina. Officials at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission say the electrical generator from the damaged Unit 2 reactor at TMI will be used at Progress Energy Inc.'s Shearon Harris nuclear plant in southwest Wake County.

Going to print out some stuff (only way to really keep anything for sure latel...y) and then I will be back. Oh and Tara, thanks so much for the last data capture with the light blue balloon Beta Gross Count Rate (CPM): 182335, just before the monitor was taken offline:) I am not supposed to say much, in fact when I return I only have 1 quote that has been "approved", but in my own humble opinion I "think" (cannot quote) that the reading taken at the point the balloon icon was light blue was a deployable monitor, after that one read high, data has been unavailable at all from the Raleigh NC location. I am not overly concerned it is unavailable because I feel that we can at least rest assured that we have accomplished what was needed, and that is that the situation is being looked at.Be back soon:)See More

            I also emailed a lot to myself> radiation.questions@epa.gov

Hello I do not possess a scientific degree in this area of expertise. I am an interested average American citizen. In view of the current situation in Japan I began monitoring a num...ber of available radiation networks, and again while not an expert have grasped the basics of the data presented therein.

This was the highest level we caught, as mentioned comments erased> but I printed out most> give me a little time will get the shit back up> They wiped out word file copies> if they go to this effort then the info must be worth something
onl...y staying on a minute> getting things in order and I have to scan everything I had printed out to put it back up here:
This ain't my 1st rodeo> Sensitive documents> if you want them print them> email all over the place etc...

in regards to excessive CPM levels noted in North Carolina I did call the number available on the site, but was told it is only in regards to assistance with technical matters of site operation, and was given an e mail address to send my co...ncerns to. this is the communication in it's entirety that I forwarded to the EPA.

Thank you for contacting the Radiation Protection Division.

The beta detector on the Raleigh, NC RadNet fixed monitor is
experiencing technical difficulties, which has resulted in erroneous
data being reported on EPA's RadNet website. The gamma monitor is still
reporting accurate data. Gamma data helps scientists determine the type

Yes I have screen captured up 84> Never busts the 100 CPM alarm level though, can't believe no input here on the over 200,000 CPM reading out of NC though, No experts on this site I guess, been banned from the other one long time now, was hoping for some input. I have called the EPA number onsite, but was told it was tech support for web issues, and was given an email address, to which I sent the following info:
My concern is in regards to North Carolina, and it is this data that has me sending this inquiry.

hmmmmmm only nuke facility listed for Denver is an old govt production plant closed in 92> very interesting 3 monitors here that spike VERY high ON A REGULAR basis>

Deb Paulsen The Rocky Flats Plant was a United States nuclear weapons production facility near Denver, Colorado that operated from 1952 to 1992. It was under the control of the United States Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) until 1977, when it was replaced by the Department of Energy (DOE).

Deb Paulsen Throughout the 1960s, the plant continued to enlarge and add buildings. The Sixties also brought more contamination to the site. In 1967, 3,500 barrels of plutonium-contaminated lubricants and solvents were stored on Pad 903. A large number of them were found to be leaking, and low-level contaminated soil was becoming wind-borne from this area. This pad was covered with gravel and paved over with asphalt in 1969

Insiders at the plant started to covertly inform the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about the unsafe conditions sometime in 1987. Late that year the FBI commenced clandestine flights of l...ight aircraft over the area and noticed that the incinerator was apparently being used late into the night. After several months of collecting evidence both from workers and via direct measurement, the FBI informed the DOE on June 6, 1989 that they wanted to meet to discuss a potential terrorist threat. When the DOE officers arrived, they were served with a search warrant. Simultaneously, the FBI and EPA raided the facility. They discovered numerous violations of federal anti-pollution laws, including massive contamination of water and soil. However, none of the original charges which led to the raid were substantiated. In 1992, Rockwell was charged with environmental crimes including violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and the Clean Water Act. Rockwell pled guilty and paid an $18.5 million fine. This was the largest fine for an environmental crime to that date.

Paaatriot101 Sorry to leave you all hanging very busy and hectic past couple days, and the computer crash that kept me down a lot of today did not help. Here is the latest updated information that I have to offer after actually taking it to the extent of contacting the National Emergency Response, EPA, and many others:
Well at this time I am officially concluding discussion regarding the 6 digit CPM data coming out of North Carolina's EPA radiation
monitoring station. We should all continue though to keep our eyes and ears open for any news tidbits that may, or may not come out in
the near future related to The Shearon Harris Nuclear facility.
I say concluding because number one the Raleigh Monitor in question has been taken offline, so we are no longer able to view the data, and when it comes back up the numbers will be similar.
Number two because I have received a call from an official representative. Patrick Cox called this morning from the Radiation Protection Services of The State of North Carolina (Not to be confused with Lee Cox of the EPA National Response who I also sent information to regarding this matter).
Our conversation began a bit stiffly, as you can well imagine, an old time conspiracy theorist in an actual conversation with a government
official about how there is nothing to be concerned about, all is well, etc... etc...
It did not help that I at first thought he was Lee Cox from the EPA, who I had sent an extensive E mail with ALL of the information I had
gathered. It was only as we continued speaking that he clarified he was not The EPA Cox that I had sent ALL info to, He was Patrick
Cox of the North Carolina radiation Protection services, and the only information he had to go by was the voice mail message that I had
left the day before regarding my concerns about data for CPM levels recorded at the EPA radiation Monitoring site in Raleigh North
Carolina showing levels in the range of 200,000 CPM +/-.
We spoke for quite some time, and it wasn't until I asked "Aren't you concerned about these levels in light of the fact that the Shearon
Harris Nuclear facility has recently been shut down and restarted with parts from the Three Mile Island reactor?"
The dead silence that greeted me spoke volumes. Turns out he did not know about that, and said so. It was at that point that I explained to him I thought he was the EPA guy> Patrick Cox, to whom I had sent all the info, with links, via e mail. We spoke a bit more to catch him up on the concerns I had regarding NC, we also discussed the Denver readings. I felt after that moment of silence like we were "really" talking.
I would like to think that hopefully he is one of the good guys, and told him so, but I also told him one never knows anymore, a lot of
people do bad things nowadays. I have to give him some credit because he did call call the EPA, which is what he should have done from his level in the command chain. He took the issue seriously enough to look into it, and that is what was important.
I did end up on the phone for quite some time, and told him that I greatly appreciated that he was taking the time to speak with me, and
for at least part of the conversation I think I talked to the real person, and not a mouthpiece reciting what he is told to say.
I have been told though that there is only one quote that I am allowed to make regarding the conversation, because our "conversation" is not for release to any media, news, or radio networks for broadcast purposes. This is the quote from the EPA > I was told
" The EPA is aware of the readings, and that it is because the radiation monitor at the Raleigh North Carolina location is affected by RF Frequencies in that area".

I asked "Are there other types of monitors that could be used to measure the beta count in that area that the results would not be affected by these RF frequencies? I was told "yes". I asked in light of the history and recent upgrades with the used 3 mile Island parts didn't he think it would be a good idea to use one of these other types of monitors to measure the beta counts then? I was told there are other monitors at the site. This is where the conversation got sticky and I was instructed about limitations regarding what I can say as a factual quote, etc, etc... What I wanted to know and was unable to get quotable responses to was
"who was responsible for these "other" Monitor stations near the plant?
Is the nuclear facility Monitoring itself?
At that point I know I was irritating and badgering the man, and knew I was going to have to change tactics because I was alienating what
may have been the slight rapport we had begun to establish. I asked him "don't you want to know what an independent source has to
say?" You know what he told me? He said that he was going to go out to that site himself with a monitor.
I asked him would he call me back after he did this? He is unsure when he will go (Not sure how far away he is) but he did say that when
he does... he will call me and let me know what the Beta Radiation CPM levels are.
So concludes our emergency drill from Paatriot101. I for one would be very happy to NOT hear of any issues cropping up at the Shearon Harris Nuclear Facility, but, at the same time, I will be looking for it. Is everything concluded to my satisfaction? Well maybe not, but I do feel at least we have some people that know more about the situation than we do on board, because I also received a call today from Rita Leetum with the nuclear energy watchdog group NCWarn.org. We had a long conversation and she thanked me on behalf of NCWARN for sharing the information, and I do feel we can rest a little more assured that they will stay on top of this from here on out. Do I buy the RF Frequency interference? Do You? Well for now I guess we will have to because this is the answer from the top:)

The term Radio Frequency (RF or rf) refers to the electromagnetic field that is generated when an alternating current is input to an antenna. This field, also called an RF field or radio wave,... can be used for wireless broadcasting and communications over a significant portion of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum -- from about 9 kilohertz (kHz) to thousands of gigahertz (GHz). This portion is referred to as the RF Spectrum. As the frequency is increased beyond the RF spectrum, electromagnetic energy takes the form of infrared (IR), visible light, ultraviolet (UV), X rays, and gamma rays. I know I did say closed, but, Again I end up interested. So, the guy is right when he said EPA said RF can skew results, heck RF signals can create the radiation detected, so sure it would play heck with radiation monitors.

The BETA radiation was and is the high number that drew interest, and The EPA said it was the RF Signals that are skewing the monitor readings, but according to this a STRONG RF signal can actually emit X-Rays and Gamma radiation, although not beta. I will say this much part of our conversation involved a tower, and when I asked "which" or "whose" tower, he was quick to correct and say that he did not say it was a specific tower. But if it were some kind of antenna near there putting out thousands of gigahertz (GHz), then it must really have some juice running through it.
Well Throws hands up in air. So is there a problem with a Nuclear plant, thus high Beta CPM readings? Is there a GWEN tower nearby working with HAARP? scratches head. Maybe a little of both going on?
I was told that if I followed the radiation monitoring site for at least a year I would see more of these spikes, Was that a clue perhaps? Don't know. Seems lately everything one way or another, no matter what is under discussion eventually swings back around to HAARP being involved though. Sigh...brain needs break...number 5 is alive, need more input need more input :)
The original Radnet site we were using has added an NC Monitor:) Well almost NC kind of on border between NC/SC> Bit far from location we were tracking, maybe I will email again and see if they can get closer to Raleigh, or maybe he is mobile and we will see closer readings from the Raleigh area tomorrow? That will be worth checking out > http://www.radiationnetwork.com/
current CPM from SC/NC Border a comfortable 30 currently.
